Cannot delete Email stuck in the Outbox in Outlook – Solution

This solution works for emails that became stuck or is taking too long a time sending due to the size of the email being too huge due usually caused by a considerable large attachment( about 15Mb and above ). If you have slow network, sending this email could seems like forever.


  1. At the Outlook menu, select File
  2. Click on the down arrow button if your menu is not fully expanded. Then click on Work Offline.
    You should see a tick beside the Work Offline.
  3. Exit from Outlook. If the application is unable to close, use Task Manager to end the process.
  4. Open Outlook
  5. Go the Outbox and delete the email that is causing the problem.
  6. At the Outlook menu, disable the Work Offline by click on File > Work Offline. The tick should disappear.


*Works on Microsoft Outlook 97, Microsoft Outlook 2003 , Microsoft Outlook 2007.
